Managing complex data in a two-dimensional space is often challenging. To address this problem, Genex has developed the 3D VolumeViewer®, a true volumetric, three-dimensional display system. By “volumetric 3D display,” we mean that each (x, y, z) spatial position (or “voxel,” the 3D analog to a pixel in a 2D image) is displayed physically to form a real volume 3D model “floating in space.”
The 3D VolumeViewer was developed from years of research with NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and the Air Force. It allows users to view a 3D object from multiple points-of-view, without the use of special glasses and without the perspective problems associated with lenticular approaches. This true 3D-display system provides both physiological and psychological depth cues required by the human visual system to perceive 3D objects.
The system uses state-of-the-art DLP® projection technology from Texas Instruments to provide a radiant, high-density picture that is viewable from any angle. The ability to have a large number of simultaneous viewers is unique to true volumetric displays. The 3D VolumeViewer system provides both physiological and psychological depth cues required by the human visual system to perceive 3D objects. Stereoscopic displays and other alternative 3D systems often have a limited number of viewable positions, or sweet spots, and limited 3D depth cues.
Genex’s technology also enables the system to scale into larger formats or high definition color if required by the application.
